Health Benefits of Some Ingredients
Coconut Milk:
- Rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which can boost metabolism and provide quick energy.
- Contains lauric acid, which has antibacterial and antiviral properties.
Dark Chocolate:
- Packed with antioxidants, particularly flavonoids, which can improve heart health and reduce inflammation.
- A good source of iron, magnesium, and zinc, essential for various bodily functions.
Honey:
- A natural sweetener that provides a gentle, unrefined sweetness without spiking blood sugar levels as much as refined sugar.
- Contains antioxidants and has antibacterial properties, supporting overall health.
Extra Cooking Pro Tips
- Use Full-Fat Coconut Milk: For the creamiest texture, ensure you use full-fat coconut milk.
- Chill the Coconut Milk: Refrigerate the coconut milk overnight to separate the cream from the water.
- Melt Chocolate Gently: Use a double boiler or microwave in short bursts to melt the chocolate without burning it.
Ingredients
- 1 can full-fat coconut milk
- 1 cup dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher)
- 2-3 tablespoons honey (to taste)
How to Prepare and Serve
- Chill Coconut Milk: Place the can of coconut milk in the fridge overnight. Once chilled, scoop out the solid cream, leaving the liquid behind.
- Melt Dark Chocolate: Break the dark chocolate into pieces and melt it using a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth.
- Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the coconut cream, melted chocolate, and honey. Use a hand mixer or whisk to blend until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
- Serve: Spoon the mousse into serving bowls or glasses. For an added touch, top with fresh berries, a sprinkle of shredded coconut, or a drizzle of extra honey.
How to Melt The Chocolate:
Equipment:
- Heatproof bowl (glass or metal)
- Pot
- Spoon or spatula
Steps:
- Prepare the Pot and Bowl:
- Fill the pot with about 1-2 inches of water. Make sure the water level is low enough that it won’t touch the bottom of the bowl when placed on top of the pot.
- Place the bowl on top of the pot. The bowl should fit snugly but not touch the water.
- Heat the Water:
- Place the pot on the stove over medium heat and bring the water to a simmer. Avoid boiling the water, as too much heat can cause the chocolate to seize or burn.
- Add the Chocolate:
- Place the chopped chocolate into the bowl. The steam from the simmering water will gently heat the bowl and melt the chocolate.
- Stir Gently:
- Stir the chocolate occasionally with a spoon or spatula to ensure even melting. Continue stirring until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
- Remove from Heat:
- Once the chocolate is completely melted and smooth, remove the bowl from the pot. Be careful of the steam and hot bowl.
- Use Immediately:
- Use the melted chocolate in your recipe as needed. If the chocolate begins to harden, you can place the bowl back over the simmering water for a few moments to re-melt it.
Tips:
- Avoid Water Contact: Make sure no water gets into the chocolate, as even a small amount can cause the chocolate to seize and become grainy.
- Use Quality Chocolate: For the best results, use high-quality chocolate that contains cocoa butter.
- Constant Stirring: Stirring helps to melt the chocolate evenly and prevents it from sticking to the bowl.
How to Store Leftovers / Freeze
Storing Leftovers:
- Refrigerate: Store any leftover mousse in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Give it a quick stir before serving.
Freezing:
- Freeze: For longer storage, freeze the mousse in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
- Thawing: To enjoy, thaw the mousse in the fridge overnight and stir well to regain its creamy consistency.
Enjoy your rich and velvety chocolate mousse, a perfect treat for any time of the day!

3-Ingredient Healthy Chocolate Mousse: Simple & Delicious
Equipment
- Hand Blender
- or Anything to mix hand blender is faster, but anything could work 😉
