โœ”๏ธ Naturally rich, creamy & satisfying

โœ”๏ธ Great for dinner parties, kids, or a self-care night in!

๐Ÿซ The Story Behind This Heavenly Mousse

Letโ€™s be realโ€”lifeโ€™s too short to skip dessert.

But if youโ€™ve ever had that internal monologue like:

โ€œShould I?โ€

โ€œWill it mess with my hormones?โ€

โ€œDo I really need it right now?โ€

Girl, I feel you. ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ

This mousse was born out of one of those nights. PMSing, moody, craving everything, and determined not to fall into a sugar crash spiral. So I raided my pantry with the stubbornness of a woman on a missionโ€ฆ and boomโ€”the birth of this decadent, creamy, rich-but-light guilt-free miracle in a jar.

Itโ€™s not just about the dessert. Itโ€™s about taking back the pleasure of eating something indulgent, nourishing your body, and honouring your cravings without the drama.

This is dessert therapyโ€”served cold and silky.

๐Ÿง  Cravings, Hormones & Chocolate: A Love Triangle

Letโ€™s get nerdy for a second, shall we?

When your body screams chocolate, itโ€™s not just being dramatic. Dark chocolate (especially 70% and up) is a natural source of magnesium, which your body burns through when youโ€™re stressed or on your period. It also helps with serotonin productionโ€”aka the feel-good hormone. Thatโ€™s why this mousse doesnโ€™t just hit the spot; it actually helps regulate your mood and nervous system. Howโ€™s that for a plot twist?

Pair that with healthy fats from coconut milk, a touch of raw honey, and boomโ€”youโ€™re basically spooning a hormone-balancing miracle into your mouth. Youโ€™re welcome.

๐Ÿซ Make It Yours โ€“ Toppings & Twists

Want to level it up even more? Here are some ideas to jazz it up:

๐Ÿซ Antioxidant Boost: Top it with fresh berries like raspberries or blueberries for a hit of fiber and vitamin C.

๐Ÿฅฅ Tropical Vibes: Sprinkle on shredded coconut or toasted coconut flakes.

๐Ÿ’ Mood Magic: Add a drizzle of cherry compote or pomegranate seeds for extra flare.

๐ŸŒฑ Mint Moment: Garnish with fresh mint and dark chocolate shavings if youโ€™re feeling fancy.

๐Ÿฅœ Salty-Sweet Goddess: Add a spoonful of almond butter or crushed roasted hazelnuts for a crunchy twist.

๐Ÿ” Batch, Store & Savor the Sweet Life

One of my favorite things about this mousse? It stores like a dream.

Double (or triple ๐Ÿ‘€) the batch and keep it in the fridge for up to 3 daysโ€”or freeze it and enjoy frozen spoonfuls when cravings hit like a wrecking ball.

Itโ€™s basically your emergency stash of happiness.

๐Ÿ’ก Bonus Hack: Turn It Into a Parfait!

Layer this mousse with:

Coconut yogurt

Chia jam

Granola

Banana slices

โ€ฆand boomโ€”youโ€™ve got a breakfast-turned-dessert-turned-breakfast-again situation. I call it the โ€œangelic indulgence parfait.โ€

Add protein powder of your choice to make it protein reach

If you check nutrition info (down below) you could see this dessert is low in protein (itโ€™s dessert it doest need to be!) but there is a way for this too ๐Ÿ™‚

๐Ÿง  A Closer Look at the Health Benefits

๐Ÿฅฅ Coconut Milk

Rich in MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides) which support metabolism and energy.

Contains lauric acidโ€”great for immunity with antiviral & antibacterial properties.

๐Ÿซ Dark Chocolate (70%+ cocoa)

Loaded with flavonoids, which support heart health and reduce inflammation.

A delicious source of magnesium, iron, and zinc.

๐Ÿฏ Honey

A natural sweetener with antioxidants and antibacterial benefits.

Easier on blood sugar (docent means perfect) than refined sugar (and tastes amazing).

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ Pro Tips for the Perfect Mousse

Use full-fat coconut milk โ€“ for that dreamy texture!

Chill the can overnight โ€“ this separates the creamy part you need.

Melt chocolate gently โ€“ avoid burning by using a double boiler or water bath.

Adjust sweetness โ€“ start with 1 tbsp of honey and add more if needed.

๐Ÿ›’ Ingredients (Serves 4)

๐Ÿฅฅ 1 can full-fat coconut milk (chilled overnight)

๐Ÿซ 1 cup dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher)

๐Ÿฏ 2โ€“3 tbsp honey (or to taste โ€“ maple syrup works too!)

๐Ÿง How to Make It โ€“ Step-by-Step

1. Chill Coconut Milk

Refrigerate the can overnight. Open it without shaking and scoop out the solid cream into a bowl. Discard or save the liquid for smoothies.

2. Melt the Chocolate

Break the chocolate into pieces and melt it gently:

My go-to method: Place a heatproof bowl over a pot with simmering water (double boiler style). Stir until smooth.

Microwave option (if you use it): Heat in 30-second bursts, stirring between each.

3. Mix It All Together

In a mixing bowl, combine the coconut cream, melted chocolate, and honey. Whip with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth and fluffy.

4. Chill

Refrigerate the mousse for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to set and intensify the flavor.

5. Serve & Enjoy!

Spoon into serving bowls and top with fresh berries, shredded coconut, mint, or a drizzle of extra honey.

๐Ÿซ How to Melt Chocolate Properly

Youโ€™ll Need:

Heatproof bowl (glass or metal)

Pot with 1โ€“2 inches water

Spatula or spoon

Steps:

  1. Simmer water gently in the pot (donโ€™t boil).

  2. Place the bowl on top, ensuring it doesnโ€™t touch the water.

  3. Add chopped chocolate and stir continuously until melted.

  4. Use immediately or reheat gently if it starts to harden.

โœ… Tips:

Avoid water getting into your chocolateโ€”it causes grainy texture.

Use good quality chocolate with real cocoa butter.

Stir constantly for even melting.

โ„๏ธ Storage & Leftovers

Fridge: Keep mousse in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Stir before serving.

Freezer: Freeze in portions for up to 1 month. Thaw in the fridge overnight and mix to regain texture.
